Most containers are placed in a driveway or another flat area on private property, which generally doesn't require a permit. If there's no room on the property and the container needs to sit on the street or public right-of-way, that requires approval from the local municipality — see the permits section below.

A flat, stable surface — concrete, asphalt, or hard-packed gravel — works best. We can place containers on grass or dirt in some cases, but soft ground increases the chance of ruts or sinking, especially after rain.

Roll-off trucks generally need about 60 feet of straight clearance and roughly 13 to 14 feet of overhead clearance to place a container safely. Let dispatch know about low tree branches, wires, or tight access when you schedule.

No — dumpsters shouldn't be moved by anyone other than our drivers. Moving a loaded or empty container yourself can damage the property or the container. Call us if you need it repositioned.

General household junk, furniture, construction and demolition debris, roofing materials, yard waste, and most non-hazardous bulky items are all fine in a standard container. Tell us about the project when you book so we can confirm, and size for heavier material like concrete or shingles if needed.

Hazardous materials are not allowed in any container — this includes paint, solvents, motor oil, batteries, tires, refrigerants, asbestos, and similar items. Appliances with refrigerant, such as refrigerators, freezers, and AC units, usually need to be handled separately. Ask us if you're not sure whether something qualifies.

Heavy material like concrete, brick, dirt, and asphalt is allowed but is priced and sized differently because it's so dense — a full-size container of pure concrete would exceed most weight limits fast. Let us know if your project includes heavy debris so we can recommend the right container.

Yes, in most cases, though if you have a large amount of yard waste alone — branches, brush, leaves from a major cleanup — it often makes sense to book it as its own load, since it's usually lighter than a mixed debris load and can sometimes be priced accordingly.

If prohibited material like hazardous waste ends up in a container, disposal facilities can reject the load or charge additional fees, which get passed along. When in doubt about an item, call us before it goes in — it's a quick question that avoids a bigger cost later.

Storm debris, such as downed limbs, damaged siding, and roofing torn loose by wind, and demolition debris are both accepted and are common in central Illinois after severe thunderstorm and tornado season or winter ice storms. Let dispatch know it's storm-related debris so we can size the container appropriately.
