Learn moreOur story
A locally owned dumpster rental company serving Springfield and the rest of Sangamon County with straightforward pricing and a team that actually picks up the phone.

SPI Dumpster Rental was started in Springfield in 2016 by Dale Whitfield, who spent years working in hauling and logistics before deciding Sangamon County needed a dumpster company that did the simple things right — pick up the phone, quote a straight price, and show up when promised. The business began small, with a single truck and a handful of roll-off containers serving Springfield homeowners and contractors directly.
Word spread the way it tends to in a city Springfield's size — one contractor recommending the company to another, one homeowner telling a neighbor. What started as a one-truck operation grew into a full rental fleet working out of the yard at 1250 Taylor St, and the service area grew right along with it, expanding out from Springfield into Southern View, Jerome, Leland Grove, Grandview, Chatham, Rochester, Sherman, Riverton, Williamsville, New Berlin, Pleasant Plains, Auburn, Divernon, Mechanicsburg, and Pawnee.
Ten years in, SPI Dumpster Rental is still locally owned and still built around the same idea Dale started with: renting a dumpster shouldn't be complicated. Dispatch answers the phone, drivers know the roads of Sangamon County as well as they know downtown Springfield, and the yard crew keeps containers ready to roll — including same-day, when the schedule allows it.
By the numbers
Figures are indicative of our current operation.
Renting a dumpster should be one of the easier parts of a home project or job site, not the most frustrating part of it. That means a real person answering the phone instead of a call center, a price quoted up front that doesn't change when the truck shows up, and a delivery window the driver actually keeps. It's a simple standard, but it's the one SPI Dumpster Rental has tried to hold itself to since 2016.
Most rentals start with a phone call or an online request: tell dispatch what the project is — a roof tear-off, a garage cleanout, a demolition job — and they'll help match it to the right container size. Drivers deliver on flat, stable ground wherever possible, walk through placement with the customer, and haul away on the agreed pickup date or on a call when the container fills up early. The yard crew keeps the fleet inspected and ready, so a same-day delivery is possible more often than not when the schedule has room.
Springfield is the Illinois state capital and Abraham Lincoln's hometown, and SPI Dumpster Rental's yard on Taylor Street sits close to the sites that make the city what it is — the Lincoln Home National Historic Site, Lincoln's Tomb at Oak Ridge Cemetery, the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, and the Illinois State Fairgrounds. From that base near the I-55/I-72 interchange and historic Route 66, the company runs containers out to Southern View, Jerome, Leland Grove, Grandview, Chatham, Rochester, Sherman, Riverton, Williamsville, New Berlin, Pleasant Plains, Auburn, Divernon, Mechanicsburg, and Pawnee — including the steady growth happening around Chatham as new construction pushes south of the city.
Central Illinois weather plays its part too. Spring and summer bring severe thunderstorm and tornado season, and winter brings snow and ice, so storm debris and yard waste cleanup are a regular part of the job here, not an afterthought.

What we stand on
A dumpster rental question deserves a real answer from a real person, not a voicemail. Dispatch picks up during business hours, and calls get returned the same day.
Pricing is quoted up front based on size, location, and expected weight, so there's no surprise fee waiting on the invoice.
Drivers work a real delivery window and keep the customer updated in the rare case a job runs long.
Containers get placed on boards or plywood when needed to protect driveways, and crews clean up after every pickup.
Faces from the yard
Dispatch, drivers and the yard crew who actually run your job — the same faces whether you call on a Tuesday or a Saturday.
